Hotel Description

The hotel is situated on the beach. Visitors to the hotel have access to a total of 33,800 square metres (364,000 sq ft) of beach. The Wild Wadi Water Park is directly across the street from the hotel. All hotel guests have unlimited access to the waterpark.

Previously known as Chicago Beach, the beachfront area where the Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel are located is now known as Dubai Beach. The hotel is situated on a reclaimed island just off the beach of the former Chicago Beach Hotel. The name of the location comes from the Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, which had floating oil storage tankers on the site long before Dubai began its current modernization.

Since the old hotel was demolished in 1997, the old name has persisted. The public project name for the construction phase of the Burj Al Arab Hotel was Chicago Beach Hotel until Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the new name.

When it was finished in 1997, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel stood 93 metres tall, making it the ninth tallest building in Dubai. It is currently ranked lower than the 100th tallest building. Despite its lower rankings, the hotel remains a landmark in Dubai.

The hotel will cease accepting guests in May 2018 in order to complete a comprehensive renovation, which is scheduled to be completed in October 2018. All guest rooms, public spaces, lobby, retail areas, beach and outdoor facilities, as well as restaurants and dining outlets, have been renovated.

Another source confirmed that the Jumeirah Beach Hotel will close and will not reopen in October 2021. For the time being, the Jumeirah Al Naseem and Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf will continue to operate normally.
